Video Camera Photo

Open Question: i use a simple digital camera,and want to upgrade to a camera that takes action shots?

i spend alot of time taking pics of my 2 dogs…but when it comes to action shots,by the time ive pressed the button,ive missed the action..takes too long to click,i spent 259,on sony cybershot..but it just misses the action shots.anyone know of a good camera,not too complicated i could buy..was thinking of a slr,but seems complicated to me,as only ever used a small digital camera
