Open Question: How come I don’t look like myself in my pictures?

I’ve always had pretty low self-esteem in regards to my physical appearance, so I find it rather disconcerting that the image of me captured by my digital camera (as well as my video camera) differs so greatly from that of the one in the mirror.
In most mirrors, I tend to look at least somewhat attractive. The length and width of my face suits my body, and the overall size of my head is proportional to that of my body. Move away from the mirror, and things still look fine, unless the mirror is the type that begins to distort and bend light waves at a distance. Some mirrors I don’t look that great in, and I have no idea why. Is it just the lighting? Am I ugly in certain locations but not in others? I don’t get it.
Same thing kind of applies with my camera, though I have a harder time getting a good picture of myself as opposed to being satisfied with my reflection. For the sake of hopefulness, I’ll assume that I’m not photogenic rather than not even a tiny bit attractive. Yeah, my pictures look good when my face is at a certain distance, cast at a certain angle and well-lit, but most pictures that other people take of me are horrible.
I was messing around with my video camera, and it made me look bad, too. Distances of two feet to seven or eight feet made my face look very wide and small. Distances of ten feet or more made my head look incredibly tiny. Everybody I’ve asked (including people who I know would be honest) says that my head is normal sized. Christ, some guy I didn’t even know told me that I had a *big* head. Eh?
This is seriously confusing as hell. Why do my pictures all turn out so differently? Why does my reflection appear different from mirror to mirror? I know the lighting is probably the catalyst in all of these situations, but is there anything else?
Here’s a few pictures. Notice how I look horrible in some, and alright in others. Notice how my facial features almost seem to change from one picture to the next. Ergh!!!
Oh, and I know some are from different angles. I did that on purpose. All of these pictures were taken within a month or two of one another.

(camera flash is almost certainly the culprit there, but still…)
Any real and helpful answers are appreciated. I’m not looking for a 1-10 rating or anything like that. I have a legitimate concern, and I’d very much like to get legitimate replies.

I recently bought a new digital camera and they came with a pair of Panasonic batteries. Now, they are dead and on them is a symbol of a trash can with an “X” over it. So, how am I to properly dispose of these useless, dead batteries???

They were wondering today if there is a single USB adapter that would work for most brands of digital camera out there:
Canon, Sharp, Nokia, Kodak, Argus, Canon, Casio, Fujifilm, Gandolfi, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Polaroid, Ricoh, Samsung, Silvestri, Sony, Sun, Toyo, Olympus …
.. just to name a few. That way they can just have their friends upload whatever photos they take during the wedding and reception right from their digital cameras to one of the two laptops.
I’m not even sure if I’m using the correct terminology for a Mac laptop – but I think you ge the idea, whether they’re iMacs or ibook or Mac Pros or Apples or Macintosh notbooks – I know they’re NOT iPads – I’m at least sure of that.

Open Question: Where to trade other than craigslist?

I have been trying to find a place to trade my digital camera for a good working canister filter and cannot find a place reliable. I tried craigslist a few times and got nothing but spam mail.
I traded my other camera for a supposedly working Rena Filstar XP2 which cost a little more than my camera but was ultimately ripped off the filter is a mess to say the least lol.
I am not a really active member of any aquarium forums and don’t want to sign up on one just to trade since well I honestly wouldn’t trust someone who did it so why should I do it?
Any sites you know of that I could trade my camera for a filter?

I’m trying to import my photos and videos to my computer but I can’t! Every time I try to copy a video, it won’t work and it says there’s an error and can’t import and that’s for all of my photos and videos! How can I copy the photos and videos to my computer? PLEASE HELP!!!!

my b day is in 2 days!! and ive decided that i would like a camera lol. k the options i have are… nikon coolpix s70 camera(black, red, silver, brown), nikon cooplix projector camera(black), samsung dualview 12mp camera(blue red, purple, light blue), sony slim digital camera kit(black, green, red), or the sony waterproof camera kit(pink, light pink, white, blacky and silver) which one should i get, that has the best options?

I have a HUGE project coming up this Thursday and if everything goes right…well my life will completely change!
Here’s the problem: The professional photographer that was supposed to take photos (which will be published in magazines in various countries, spots in them already reserved, no time to reschedule) has some problems and will not be able to take the photos. Now I am left to, by Thursday, think of another way to get pro-shoots and all I have is a home digital camera and a friend on stand-by. What can I do now? Can my friend and I pull it off?
