Open Question: Will this camera be fine for freelance photography?

I have a Kodak EasyShare m340 and it is 10.2 MP.
You can read details about it at http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsus/en_US/pd/M340_Digital_Camera/productID.145091700
I’ve always liked photography, and have a few pretty shots myself. But reccently I was thinking about selling the pictures, maybe at istockphoto, or be a freelance photographer.
Is this camera good enough for professional photography?

I’m currently looking at the PowerShot SD870 IS specifically, but I’m also looking at other PowerShot cameras. I’m looking for a camera that has great audio quality and that’s not a camcorder. I’m not sure where I should cap my budget, so I’ll look at anything.

I was looking at the Canon EOS Rebel XS
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=139&modelid=17316#ModelFeaturesAct
I want something that can take good macro shots, and has the ability to change more settings manually. Also I want it to have fast shutter speed!! The camera I have now is really slow and it’s annoying because everything blurs.

Open Question: basic user friendly ‘professional’ camera?

hey guys, im looking for a camera that takes good pictures as im really into photography (incl. fashion) and i really have no idea what type to get.
ive always owned normal digital cameras and those just don’t cut it for me. i want better quality pictures so i won’t have to spend tons of time editing. so i was wondering what type of camera i should get. people i know have chunky black ones (SLR cameras, i think) and the pics look way better.
can people please explain to me the difference between DSLR and SLR cameras, what are they etc. and please dont say that one’s digital and one isn’t because that’s not gonna help.
also, what should i get?! doesnt need to be specific on which exact camera, but the type please.
PS. im not a very tech kinda person so i need a user friendly one. basically, a cheap basic camera that takes semi professional pictures is what im looking for.
PPS. ive been looking at NIKON COOLPIX range particulary L110 and i know its not slr/dslr but would it take the sort of pictures that are ‘magazine’ material?
THANKS, and sorry if ive been typing too much.

Resolved Question: What is the ideal shutter speed for taking photos of stars?

I’m not sure if it’s what’s known as shutter speed.
I have a digital camera and in the lower part there is this number ranging from I think 20 down to NR30”. I took a photo of the night sky with the NR30” and it took so long before the camera ‘captured’ the image. When it showed up, the photo looks like it’s daytime.
I tried NR5″ and it looked better though
sorry. it’s 1000. the highest
